The event took place in Brussels on May 23-24, 2024, focusing on the theme "Cooperatives in a Fast-Changing World: What Sets Purpose-Driven Enterprises Apart?"

The symposium featured insightful keynote speeches by esteemed researchers from across Europe, highlighting the unique attributes of cooperatives. Keynote speakers included:

  • Giulia Galera from Euricse
  • Frédéric Dufays from University of Liège HEC & KUL
  • Blanche Segrestin from Mines Paris, who provided detailed insights into the concept of Société à Mission, its conceptual roots, and transformative capacity.

The event brought together delegations from all over the continent to discuss and explore the distinguishing qualities of cooperatives and their role in a rapidly changing world. The discussions emphasized the importance of purpose-driven enterprises and their ability to foster sustainable development and community resilience.

On the second day, during the General Assembly, a significant milestone was achieved with the election of a new president. Dr. Petar Stefanov of CCU Bulgaria was elected for a one-year term. The RuralCoop Support Foundation and Farm Credit Armenia congratulate Dr. Stefanov on his new role and look forward to fruitful cooperation under his leadership.

The event was a valuable platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaborative discussions, reinforcing the commitment of cooperatives to drive positive change in society.
