Porto, Portugal – November 7, 2025

We are pleased to share that Mariam Gabrielyan, Executive Director of the RuralCoop Support Foundation and Board Member of Cooperatives Europe, was invited to represent Cooperatives Europe at the Young European Cooperators Network (YECN) Assembly, held from November 5 to 7, 2025, in Porto, Portugal. The event brought together more than 35 young cooperators from 14 countries to formally relaunch the Network and strengthen youth leadership within the European cooperative movement.

As the representative of Cooperatives Europe, Mariam Gabrielyan contributed to discussions on youth empowerment, cooperative education, and the role of young leaders in shaping the future of cooperation. She highlighted the importance of creating accessible pathways for youth and young professionals to engage with cooperative structures.

“The energy and commitment of young cooperators are essential for the renewal and long-term vitality of the cooperative movement,” said Mariam Gabrielyan. “By investing in youth, we ensure not only continuity but also innovation and resilience across our cooperative communities.”

During the Assembly, participants adopted the Network’s Terms of Reference, paving the way for the election of a Steering Committee and the development of joint European youth-led initiatives. The gathering marked a milestone in giving young people a stronger voice within Cooperatives Europe and the broader international cooperative family.

We extend our appreciation to YECN and all contributors for fostering an inspiring and collaborative environment.
